Life Buds Chrome Extension
Summary: Life Buds respects your privacy. We store your preferences locally on your device and only send minimal data to generate personalised affirmations and reflections. We do not sell or share your personal information.
Information We Collect
Life Buds collects and stores the following information to provide you with personalised affirmations and reflections:
- Preferences: Your selected affirmation categories (wealth, health, relationship, general)
- Custom Goals: Any personal goals you choose to enter for more personalised content
- Settings: Notification timing preferences, display settings, and UI preferences
- API Keys: If you choose to use your own API key (OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, or Anthropic Claude), it is stored locally on your device
How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored using Chrome's built-in storage system:
- Chrome Sync Storage: Preferences and settings are synced across your Chrome browsers when signed into Chrome
- Chrome Local Storage: Sensitive data like custom API keys and UI positions are stored only on your local device
We do not maintain external databases of your personal information.
Data Sent to Third-Party Services
By default, Life Buds does not send any data to external servers. All affirmations and reflections are generated from a built-in library stored locally in the extension.
If you choose to use your own API key for AI-generated content, the following data may be sent to your chosen provider:
- Your selected affirmation categories
- Your custom goals (if provided)
This data is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider and is not processed or stored by Life Buds.
Third-Party Services
By default, Life Buds uses a built-in library of affirmations and reflections that were pre-generated using OpenAI models and Claude Code. No third-party services are contacted during normal use.
If you choose to add your own API key for personalised AI-generated content, you can connect directly to one of the following providers:
- Google Gemini
- OpenAI
- Anthropic Claude
- Groq
When using a custom API key, your data is sent directly from your browser to your chosen provider. Please refer to the privacy policy of your chosen provider for information on how they handle data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. Your data is only used to provide the core functionality of the extension.
Data Retention
Your settings and preferences are retained in Chrome storage until you:
- Uninstall the extension
- Clear your browser data
- Manually reset settings within the extension
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all your stored data in the extension settings
- Modify: Change your preferences at any time
- Delete: Remove all data by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
- Portability: Your settings sync with your Chrome account and move with you
Children's Privacy
Life Buds is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
